New Research On Myopia Prevention And Control——Myopia Defocus Lens
2024-08-27
In recent years, defocus lenses have come to the fore with the development of specially designed functional Myopia Control Lenses. Defocus correction glasses have the same appearance as ordinary frame glasses, but there is a special defocus design on the lenses: normal Single Vision glass just play the role of correcting vision, allowing people to see clearly. The working principle of peripheral defocus correction glasses is that light passes through the lens to form a clear image on the retina, allowing another part of the light to focus in front of the retina, forming a myopic defocus signal, thereby inhibiting the progression of myopia. It can not only correct vision, but also can control the deepening of myopia.

In a 2-year randomized controlled trial, wearing aspherical microlens design frame glasses induced a continuous myopic defocus zone to achieve the purpose of myopia management. The results showed that the diopter progression was delayed by 55% and the axial length was delayed by 51%. Among patients who wore it for more than 12 hours a day, myopia refractive progression was delayed by 67% and axial length was delayed by 60%.
Suitable crowd
1.The diopter is within the photometric range of 0~-6.00, the astigmatism is 0~-2.00, and the combined luminosity within -10.00D;
2.Corrected to normal vision
If the corrected visual acuity is lower than the minimum visual acuity for the age group, it is considered amblyopia. The first priority should be to correct amblyopia, not myopia prevention and control. Therefore, the use of peripheral defocus corrective glasses should be postponed.
3.Eye position normal
For patients with strabismus, It is not recommended to use peripheral defocus correction glasses.
Precautions for wearing
The prescription for glasses should be as correct as possible. Choose the right frames. Don't choose frames that are too big.
Wearing peripheral defocus lenses for the first time requires a short adaptation period of 2 to 3 days. Try to wear them all day long, and do not take them off and wear them from time to time.
It should be reviewed every 3 to 6 months, and it needs to be replaced in time when the degree increases by 50 degrees or more.
