Did you choose the right photochromic lenses?
Summer has arrived, the weather is hot and the sun is glaring. More and more customers are choosing photochromic glasses, but do you know how to choose color changing lenses? Did you choose the right Photochromic Lens?

First, let's understand what color changing lenses are?
Color changing lenses, also known as "photosensitive lenses". According to the principle of reversible light color exchange reaction, lenses can quickly darken under light and ultraviolet irradiation, block strong light and absorb ultraviolet radiation, and exhibit neutral absorption towards visible light; Returning to the dark, it can quickly restore its colorless and transparent state, ensuring the transparency of the lens. So color changing lenses are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use to prevent damage to the eyes from sunlight, ultraviolet light, and glare.

I. Color selection of color changing lenses:
Color changing lenses are generally divided into three colors: gray, brown, and green. The commonly used colors are gray and brown.
1.Gray lenses: can absorb infrared light and 98% ultraviolet light. When viewing objects through gray lenses, the color of the object itself will not change, but the color will appear darker, effectively reducing the intensity of light and giving a more realistic and natural feeling.

2.Brown lenses: can absorb 100% ultraviolet light, filter blue light, improve visual contrast and clarity, and have a brightening effect. Suitable for wearing in severe air pollution or foggy conditions, it is an ideal choice for drivers.

3. Green lenses: Like gray lenses, they can effectively absorb infrared light and 99% of ultraviolet light. While absorbing light, it maximizes the amount of green light reaching the eyes, providing a cool and comfortable feeling, suitable for people with easily fatigued eyes.

In summer, the weather is hot, the temperature is high, and the light is strong. It is recommended to choose gray or green lenses as the main option.
II. Precautions for choosing color changing lenses
1. If the difference in refractive index between the two eyes is over 100 degrees, it is recommended to choose a film variable lens, as the thickness of the two lenses will not cause different shades of color change.
2.If one of the Photochromic Lenses worn for more than a year is damaged and needs to be replaced, it is recommended to replace both lenses together to avoid different color changing effects due to different usage times.

3.If patients have high intraocular pressure or glaucoma, remember not to wear color changing lenses or sunglasses.
4.Photochromic lenses change color based on the strength of ultraviolet radiation, so they may change color even on cloudy days
5. If the driver chooses color changing lenses, they may not change color inside the car. This is because most front windshields now have the function of blocking ultraviolet rays, so if the car isolates ultraviolet rays, the color changing lenses will not change color. Now some manufacturers have developed car interior color changing technology, which will not cause the situation where the lenses inside the car do not change color.
